Pecan Pie with Bourbon & Brown Butter

Bourbon pecan pie in a glass pie dish with flaky crust and a dollop of whipped cream, one slice removed and served.

If this pie had a theme song, it’d be “Feelin’ Myself.” Rich, gooey, and just a little tipsy.

✨ A Little Slice of Southern Drama...

You bring this pie out at the end of the night, and baby, it steals the show. It doesn’t whisper sweet things—it sings ‘em. This ain’t your average pecan pie—this one’s toasted, boozy, buttery, and just indulgent enough to make Grandma raise an eyebrow (then ask for the recipe).

If a pie could have a personality, this one’s wearing heels to Thanksgiving dinner and knows exactly what it's bringing to the table.

🍴 Servings:

One 9-inch pie (serves 8)

⏱️ Time Breakdown:

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 45–50 minutes
Cooling Time: At least 2 hours
Total Time: About 3 hours (including cooling)

🛒 Grocery List:

For the filling:

  • 1 cup light corn syrup

  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

  • 3 large eggs

  • 2 tablespoons bourbon

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 ½ cups chopped pecans (plus a few whole ones for topping, if desired)

For the crust:
Use a homemade or store-bought 9-inch pie crust, unbaked

👩‍🍳 Directions:

1. Brown that butter:

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Let it bubble and sizzle, swirling occasionally, until it smells nutty and golden brown bits form on the bottom (about 5–7 minutes). Remove from heat and cool slightly.

2. Preheat & prep:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out and place your pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish. Crimp the edges as desired.

3. Make the filling:

In a large bowl, whisk together corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, bourbon, vanilla, and salt. Slowly whisk in the browned butter until smooth and glossy. Stir in chopped pecans.

4. Assemble & bake:

Pour the filling into the prepared crust. Top with whole pecans in a pretty pattern if you’re feelin’ fancy. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is just set and slightly puffed. Tent with foil halfway through if the crust browns too quickly.

5. Cool completely:

Let it cool for at least 2 hours before slicing so it sets properly. (Hardest part, we know.)

📝 Southern Tip:

Make it a day ahead!
It slices like a dream once it's had time to rest, and the flavors get deeper overnight. Serve with whipped cream—or bourbon whipped cream if you’re feelin’ yourself, too.

💡 Serve It With:

  • Hot coffee or a little after-dinner bourbon

  • Vanilla bean ice cream or fresh whipped cream

  • Silence… because everyone will be too busy chewing

With butter browned and bourbon in hand,
Southern Charm Style 🥧✨
